Nice thinking on the doors. I was considering a interior garage door for my
addition… This is good option. Just a suggestion to keep you awake at
night. You might be able to dig up torsion spring and put them on all of
the hinge pins. Get some spring loaded closing action.
Yeah I’ve been really happy with it so far. Although my tolerances are
about 1/16″ on the top and the bottom and that’s irritating, so I’ll
probably solve that this summer :)
I would solve the problem of clearance by cutting away just a have of an
inch of the joices which are in the way at the top! You could use the
reprosaw for that! I dont think this will affect the final strenght of the
beams!! And finaly the doors will have a tendancy to bend down towards the
floor rather than to the sealing! But indeed because of humidity especialy
wood may expand much and with a half of an inch of clearance you wil be
fine!!
Stove was great! I was gone for most of Feb, but my girlfriend was totally
fine, loading pellets and it worked without issue the whole time I was gone
:)
Works great eventhough these doors must be pretty heavy! Only the wood
needs some paint!!

Stellar!
Yeah, paint is probably a this year project, for all of the pressure
treated sills. Anyone have thoughts on paint over Pressure treated lumber?
Much of the good old proven products like carbolineum are prohibited now so
you end up with more expensive green products!
I like this design much more than a huge, heavy, long sliding door!

This is a great solution. I thin I know what your’re talking about. They
make gate closer torsion springs that would probably work.

If you cut off the upperside of the door you will create unwanted
ventilation so it is better to keep it tight there!
Yes I was thinking the same, just taking the joists down a bit. Although
I’ll probably use my dewalt power planer. :)
That good old Dr. Wald will fix this!!!
How warm did that stove keep you in Feb? Did it work well?

Shorten the door panels by 3/4″ and, if necessary, add a 3/4″ board to the
underbelly of the opening header.
