Could you explain to me why you opted for wood instead of concrete/bricks?
Is it just the material cost? Do you not have to worry about extreme
weather? I’m building my 4 story home in the netherlands out of bricks &
concrete, most innerlayers have concrete slabs though the attic
compartments are made out of wood.

Im not sure why he didn’t use concrete, but I can tell you as a licensed
contractor in California and from my studies in construction management and
structural engineering in college that lumber in the U.S. is a renewable
resource that allows the cost of that material to be lower than any other
part of the world, with the exception of Australia. Therefore, methods of
construction dating back to the mid 19th century has leaned toward using
    wood as opposed to concrete.

It wasn’t until the early 20th century when manufacturing technology was
able to produce a consistent and reliable nail, at a large rate of volume
and low cost was when “American Platform Framing was born”. A method of
building only used in North America. It was noted in history that this
method of building would allow a father and son to build a house. Through
time building engineers were able to sketch structures to use lumber to
compete with there concrete counter part.

Yes, the final product will yield a much lower cost than its concrete
predecessor with no structural compromise. Platform Framing builds quicker
with less people and less money. Concrete is simply a foundation material
that will blow up your budget when used in place of lumber, especially now
    with strides of engineered lumber.
