ADD is a wonderful thing. It makes every project, even the smallest, an
adventure. (I ought to know.) But, what is does for this garage project is
help communicate the thought and planning process to the viewers. People
who see the before and after shots of a project don’t get even 10% of what
it really took to do the project. I find this whole series very interesting
and very helpful and reassuring. ADD or not, projects do get complex, both
the planned parts and the unplanned developments.
Amen, brother Adam.
Amen to you too, michaelalanlee.
This is, of course, exactly what I feel, how I think, pretty much all the
time on every subject/task/goal. I found you because I want to build a
34×50 post & beam barn (nowhere near as complicated as your garage), and
have been struggling with… pretty much everything. But at the moment,
the footings and foundation.
Should it be full perimeter poured footing, with full perimeter, 42 inch
deep, poured concrete foundation wall? Or just poured piers, with some
sort of ratwall in between? How do I handle insulation of the foundation?
Should I go the PEX radiant floor route? What about plumbing? How do I
prep for a future shower?
Gads.
And congrats on making it thru.

I couldn’t agree more. :) Thanks!
Whats the purpose of the rebar sticking up out of the concrete platform ?
