So wait, your PEX is going to run from the water heater in your home,
underground and in to the garage? Do you think you will lose a lot of the
heat by the time it gets to the garage in the winter? I would think that
when you turn the faucets on, it would probably take a bit for the water to
heat up since all of the water sitting in the tubes underground will have
cooled off.
Well, Kind of. I’ve decided that DHW will not be pulled from the garage hot
water tank, for the reason you just described. It would take minutes for
the water to make it over to the house, and that would be wasteful. The
water pipes are going to be used to bring hot water for heating, over to
the house. :)
