Great production values – got to hand it to you! Clean, clear and direct –
love the ‘timber-cam’ at 4.00. What camera rig are you using for the rest
of the ‘to camera’ shots – seems too fluid when you walk around the site to
    be just a tripod…

Thanks very much! I tried really hard to have a good production value so
it’s nice when someone notices! :) So yeah, it’s fluid for a couple
reasons, 1. I try very hard to remember I’m a cameraman while i’m talking.
    2. I’ve got a lot of practice. 3. it’s a wide angle,ie short focal length.
Ever notice how hard it is to get a camera that’s zoomed in steady? Well
the opposite happens at wide angle, it looks more stable. and the gopros
are 5mm, 170 degrees, so that helps!

This was the point when I started using a safetyhelmet just in case a beam
would fall when a little bit of wind would take a hold of it while i was
“just” getting my powertool to fix it!! You know what I mean!? Yeahh!!!

Love these vids. Maybe one day you could install an underground car lift
    extension to the garage :)

splitting the beam in the middle of the supported run will reduce the
capacity of that section by 50%.

no 4×12 beams does not seem very strong I would probably use a 4×12 solid
fir beam and a 4×4 or 6×6 support with a 2×4 or 2×6 along each side

when you already had your beams cut to length why did’nt you lay out & put
your hangers on before you raised them, might have saved a lot of ups &
    downs
