This is the beginning of a series of posts that chronicles the building of my garage.
It all started when I was born. I reached out for a garage instead of the bottle. Since then, I’ve wanted a “GRARGE”. I first became aware of the need for a garage when I moved out of my parents house and suddenly had none. Changing oil on my back in the dirt. Replacing a slave cylinder on a 1985 Nissan 300zx without a jack, in the dirt. I drove around in that car a whole winter without a clutch because I didnt have a garage. I used to put it in first at stop lights and just start it with the clutch out. Luckily the override switch wasn’t working.
Every house I’ve purchased, 4 so far, has not had a garage. I had a carport at the condo, but it didn’t really fill the need. And so the time has come to build a place to store vehicles, toys, lawn and garden equipment, tools, sporting goods, trash, recycling, spare furniture, old clothes. A place to work on cars, a place to work on projects, a place to be creative with tools and materials. And this garage is going to have plenty of places to “hang out” as you’ll see when I post some designs.

Nice work! Both on the garage and on the videos. I have to wonder which project is bigger, and here you are swallowing them both at the same time! Good Luck onward and upward!

I really like your garage plan. Did you have difficulty getting your plans approved? I have a similar building spot (uneven terrain) and was thinking of setting up something like yours.
How much did it cost you for the foundation only?

Hey, here in my town we don’t need to get anything approved. The foundation was the most expensive thing. It was $14,000 which was easily twice as much as I wanted to pay. The concrete alone was close to 6k. Ugh, it was a hard cost to swallow. Thanks for stopping by!
I like Adam and the videos because its a real picture into someones building experience. This stuff is so much cooler than HGTV. Keep it going!

Finally I figured it out…why your stuff is so cool and reminds me of a cool TV show. Definitely not a DIY show they all suck except (brothers on call).
Dirty Jobs and Mike Rowe has got to be one my top 10 shows since ohhh 2005. Adam your stuff in my opinion is just like Mike Rowe and Dirty Jobs (which is coming back on TV on CNN) an actual look at a real job or pieces of a job. HGTV DIY suck. Bedazzle jackets don’t have a place in building anything!!!
